"We have the same problem so wanting things we can't have,
and having things we don't want, and that's what the story about"
Jay Cocks
- Screenwriter
"The themes which are love, passion, consciences, commitment. They are compelling at any time, whether 1993 or 2010"
It's so true. What make the whole story unbearable, because we will never tired of these themes. All what we want is drama! I did some research, and I found many things too share. Maybe I will post another review on this. I just want to say that perhaps, The Age of Innocence (1993) is one of the best underrated movie in history.

Martin Scorsese
- Director, Screenwriter
This came from the director who made "taxi driver" and "goodfellas" as obvious reference to the devastating emotional here. Now doubt you'll get haunted after watching this. It's brutally beautiful.
This movie is flawless because of him. I keep admire his work.

"Clothing is very symbolic of the way woman are repressed in that society, and restricted and unable to be free, with expressing herself or saying what you think or relaxing at all. In those dresses you literally can barely breath "
"She will not let that to ruin her marriage, she will fight to the death to hold unto that"
Winona Ryder
- on playing May Welland
This is what I admire the most from May's character, she gives the edge to the story. She's is the big twist. She's not so innocent after all, who'd guess huh! She made you wonder how this little and delicate creature, could possess such power to direct the whole tribe against his husband, so obsess for keeping her marriage. Girls, you got to do something when somebody standing between you and your man right! Ryder, you're deserve nomination for this.. We're all sick of May.

Daniel Day-Lewis
- on playing Newland Archer
He is the heart of the movie, the irony of the story, the only innocence who lost. Lewis brilliantly made you love and hate Archer. His charm and misery will sweep us away. . How dare he's longing for the "New land" with Ellen, but so cowardly to take action. Once again, Lewis made me fall in love with his work.
"I don't think she realize again how provocative she's being"
Three words for her, beautiful, charming and desirable.
